Forster-Tuncurry

Forster Tuncurry, the twin towns divided by the magnificent Wallis Lake, is a water-lovers paradise, small and quiet, yet offering all the attractions and facilities of a cosmopolitan village.

With kilometres of white sand and surf beaches that cater for the most avid surfers, lakeside picnic areas and ocean pools, our twin towns really do offer the best that nature provides.

Forster’s modern harbour, boat ramps, marine services and many boat hire sheds, enhance the lake’s recreational potential.  While cruising the lakes look out for dolphins playing in the shallows under the bridge, do some bird watching for cormorants, pelicans, pied oystercatchers or the elegant black swans.  Board one of our many ocean tours for a dolphin and whale watching experience or take a dive with these majestic creatures on a dive charter.

If fishing is part of your psyche, take a deep sea fishing tour or catch a fresh or cooked fillet from the local fish co-op.

Entertaining you in Forster Tuncurry are two bowling clubs, a Memorial Services Club and Sportsman’s Club and two 18-hole championship golf courses.  Sporting enthusiasts can also enjoy the squash centre, 3 tennis centres, ten-pin bowling and playing fields catering to all sporting needs.  With a three-theatre cinema complex in Tuncurry and an Entertainment Centre close by in Taree, the Great Lakes offers a host of artistic outlets.

For the cuisine connoisseur, there is the very best in fresh seafood and a smorgasbord of other tantalizing tastes from Spanish Tappas to traditional Italian and gourmet pizzas, Indian and French restaurants, combining fine elegant dining and casual al fresco.

Just a short drive west takes you to the hinterland of the Great Lakes where art and craft galleries, wineries and quaint villages with charming cafes are found.  Scattered throughout several National Parks and State Forests in the region are many bush walks and 4WD tracks for a day of leisure and picnicking in this unique natural environment.  A little further west and the National Parks and guesthouses of Gloucester and Barrington Tops can be enjoyed for a day’s excursion or overnight break.

Driving south of Forster the road meanders along the shores of the beautiful Myall Lake, past the Green Cathedral and into idyllic Pacific Palms, a holiday mecca for surfers and nature lovers.

Forster Tuncurry, a town we are proud to call home.  A town that is enjoyed by the visitor and resident alike.
